Sociologist

Intro

Candice C. Robinson

I am a PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Pittsburgh. My research agenda seeks to answer the broad question: “How are everyday activities of participatory democracy, also known as civic engagement, a part of broader social change?” This line of inquiry has far reaching implications in the areas of race, class, civic engagement, and social movements.

In addition to being a 2019-2020 University of Pittsburgh Social Science Doctoral Dissertation Fellow, I am an active member of various professional associations. These include Association of Black Sociologists (ABS), American Sociological Association (ASA), and Society for the Study of Social Problems (SSSP). I currently serve the discipline as a Student Editor for the journal Social Problems and a Contributing Editor, Mobilizing Ideas.
